Julian Hicks

Julian Hicks is a highly experienced international upstream energy lawyer with over 30 years’ experience in a wide range of developing and mature jurisdictions.

His career has involved the negotiation, implementation and management of complex legal arrangements as well as establishing and leading culturally diverse legal teams. 

Having specialised in energy issues in private practice Julian Jointed Amerada Hess, initially focussing on the North Sea.

 

Subsequently Julian joined Shell and lived in the Netherlands, Moscow and Dubai for extended periods as Regional General Counsel. During this time Julian lead the legal effort on a range of complex and sensitive projects in locations including Russia, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. Since leaving Shell Julian has run his own consultancy advising a range of publicly listed natural resources companies as well as acting as a subject matter expert for the European Union Global Facility on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the financing of Terrorism.

Julian is a Solicitor qualified in England and Wales and has a degree in Law from University College London
